Author: Traditional - WV [Child 18]

Source: From Hammons family by way of Michael Kline at Pinewoods Camp

Notes: For two centuries, the Hammons family of Pocahontas County, West Virginia, has maintained a distinctive style of traditional Appalachian music. From its arrival on the American frontier in the 1770s until the 1920s, the Hammons family was migratory, living temporarily in various counties along the West Virginia border with Kentucky and Virginia and in upper east Tennessee.
