Farmer's Daughter

Author: Trad

Source: William Harrison Burnett via Julie Henigan

Notes: Here's a charming little song from the singing of William Harrison Burnette from the Ozark Mountains in Missouri. My favorite line is "A maid at your age is too apt to get sorry." It is very similar to traditional British versions, and to "Seventeen Come Sunday" of which Cecil Sharp collected four different versions in VA in 1918.
