Lincoln's America

We tell the life story of Abraham Lincoln through excerpts from his writings, relevant songs of the time, and projected images. Excerpts from Lincoln’s writings. Tunes of the time and songs that were written and sung during Lincoln’s lifetime. Projected photos of the day, works of art, and lyrics of the choruses. The audience is invited to join in the singing. The songs and tunes include both well-known favorites such as “The Farmer’s Curst Wife” and “Lorena” and unfamiliar gems such as “Richmond is a Hard Road to Travel” and “Your Mission.” The themes are timeless: joy and sorrow, humor, courage and love. The spoken word, images, and music combine to provide fascinating insights into Abraham Lincoln: his life, and the America he lived in. The stories are told in the words of the people of the day: the writers of the songs and Abraham Lincoln himself. The audience is transported to Abraham Lincoln’s America in a very personal, eye-witness experience.
